Eldorado Or Monte Carlo?

I love my new Silverado but seeing as I'll be putting almost 30k a year on it, I know some time in the future I'll be looking to get a second vehicle just to give the truck a little break. So I narrowed it down to either a late 90's-'02 Eldorado or an early 2000s Monte Carlo. Yes, two completely different vehicles, but here's my reasoning.

Eldorado- I mean, it's a caddy...sweet car (IMO), and it's a V8...that's the biggest selling point for me. My grandpa used to have one and I loved it.

Monte Carlo- seems like it'd be a more "practical" option as opposed to the caddy, good gas mileage, don't feel like I have to "baby" it as much as the Eldorado.

From what I've seen, the Eldorado doesn't really get that much worse mileage...all depends how it's driven. They're both a bit more...unique, I'd say, than some other cars on the road IMO (I'm not really a car person). I don't want something as sedan-ish as an Impala, but I don't want something as sporty as a Camaro.

What do you guys think...why should I go one way or the other? I want ANY and ALL advice! Thanks!

I'd go with the Monte Carlo. Looks great and you're right you wont have to baby it too much + I think you can get a newer model for a fairly reasonable price. Good luck.

My favorite car that I have ever owned was my Caddy! I absolutely loved that car. (My favorite vehicle that I have ever owned is my current truck). I'm biased, so I will just tell you again how much I loved my Caddy. It was an 85 Eldorado. It was a great car. Took me to Vegas plenty of times and there's nothing like the ride of a Caddy on the highway.

Ah yeah it is a sweet riding vehicle...for whatever reason the monte carlo seems like a more "sensible" option if that makes sense? But I'm a sucker for the growl of a V8 haha...I guess I'm thinking there'd be more repair costs and upkeep with the caddy, I don't know though. The monte's a solid car and I like it too...that's why I'm looking to you guys for advice!

My girlfriend has a 2001 Monte Carlo, she bought it used with only 12,000 miles on it like a year and a half ago. Super nice car, rides very smooth, very roomy, and has a lot of nice features.

Yeah I live like next to the sticks, no back roads, but the truck would see the majority of bad weather driving anyway. The newest Monte Carlo with the 5.3 would be outta my price range, but it's the v8 that makes me wanna go with the caddy.

Any maintenance/repair issues with either car? I'm aware of the oil consumption deal with the northstar v8s, not too concerned.
