Dooley Tire Sizes?

What is the largest size tire I can put on the factory (17-inch) rims without the rears fouling each other under load?

i just saw an articlre about 1/2" spacers between the dually, makes a little extra space and looks good, I would think you could go 285/70/17 or 285/75 = 32.8 / 33.4 X 10/11

Wouldn't want anything in that range. Stock is 225/75R17. I'd like to get to 235 or 245 maybe. This is a working truck which carries heavy loads, so don't want "mudders" or other specialty tires. Just a size or two increase. Spacers don't appeal either, as I suspect they'd act similar to increase in offset, putting unplanned loads on the bearings.

I would look at 235/80/17 = 31.8 in. x 7.4 in., or 245/70/17 = 30.5 in. x 6.8 in., "E" rated, and will fit stock rims.
