Line-x Over Or Under Rails

Going to have Line-X w/Kevlar done on an 09 Sierra Texas Edition on Saturday morning. Going to have it done in body color vs black. Line-X folks want to know if it will be an under rail or over rail application. Debating on what would be best. Anyone have any thoughts?

Also, anyone have experience in Line-X's ability to match the body color and the "life" of the body color? Don't want to have the liner over rail and then have the color fade and look like crap.

Having wheel wells done at the same time. Should those be black or body color?

Thanks.

My last truck I didn't get the Line X over the rail and once I was helping someone move and dropped a bed rail on the truck rail...well needless to say I had a nice deep scratch on the rail afterwards.

This truck I got it down over the rail for that reason alone.

Truck is black so I naturally got black LineX.

No Clue on the color match ability though Sorry.

I vote for black on the wheel wells.

OVER-RAIL FTW its the best. The only thing to watch for is right after they finish look for scratch marks near the cab by the box rails (from prep)... they scratched mine a bit, but I never caught it until later. Over-rail is for people who use there trucks as trucks though...

Linex is the best man I've dragged stumps over it, scrapped it with shovels, looks GREAT after a pressure wash, plus they give you warrenty for life, not that you'll need it. WAY better than rhino.

Word of warning tell them not to put a decal on the box. The silicone they use when the put it on makes it ugly underneath if you take it off.

Don't know much about the colors, but black is a sure-win.

My last truck had Line-X over the rails. Like Darren said, that stuff is the best. I haven't done it on my Sierra yet but plan to in the spring. I haven't decided if I will go over the rail on this one though. I usually only carry trash and 4wheelers. Nothing really big. With the width of the rails I was thinking of going under the rail so I can keep all that nice looking paint. I figured if/when the rails got scratched up, I could always go back and have the rails sprayed then.

I have never seen a truck with the body colored Line-X so post pics whatever you do when done. Also, I would go black in the wheel wells so it can match the front black plastic.

I always go over the rail that is one of the main reasons for getting a liner to me. Cause no matter what your gonna get that top scratched. Or when one of your buddies put his elbow on it a puts a little dent in it with the spray on liner on it you cant see it. I have read reviews in linex color match and they have all been good as well as the reviews of linex is the best. Dont have it myself cause the dealer is 4 hours away. And the dealer that I got my truck at sprays on liners called vortex and tryd to tell me that it is better but I said no way. Ive been happy with it so far but dont think its as good as linex.

I did over the rails. But they brought the over rails to far down the side even though I told them where I wanted it to stop. Once it is done it is done. No correcting. So be sure where on the rail gtr panel side you want it to stop and tell them...know nothing about color. Black seems best.

Also, I like the wheel well liners over the spray and the liners should cost less ($100 +/-) vs spray. Or spray your self. Threads on here about such.

If my old truck is at my Dad's house when I go by there I will take a pic of the bed.

Its a 99 and I had the like x put in when I bought it. I don't remember it being too faded but we shall see.

black in the wheel wells for sure. as for over the rail, guess it depends on what kind of look you are going for. My buddy did it on his Silvy SS and I don't think that look fits on that truck. I have a Denali and I got the plastic bed rail protector/cap whatever they are called things, think the plastic fits the rest of the truck. To me the bed liner over the rails says work truck or 4x4 off road ass kicking machine where I think the bed rails look more like they belong on a pavement pounder like mine. Have never seen a color matched over the rail spray in, so that may change my opinion.

Well the bed of the 99 is filthy so you really can't tell how much it faded or didn't.

but here is a pic of 99 that was line-xed 11 years ago covered in dirt :smash:

My 08 which also has a dirty bed doesn't look too much different

Since both were dirty you don't really get a good comparison but I wasn't washing out the beds for these pics :D

Just got mine Line-x'd yesterday in black. I went under rail as I have the factory bed rail caps. I paid extra for the Line-x Xtra which is supposed to help against fading. The shop owner said if it ever fades bring it back and he will re-shoot the Xtra.

Awesome thanks for the pics that still looks good to me considering its 12 years old now. A little wear is to be expected but it sure looks like it protected well. I particularly like the cinder block pushed aside LOL very convincing.

Agreed, its nice to see aged pics, I have a canopy over mine most of the year so hopefully sun-fade won't be evident in the future...
