Which Muffler?

Im looking to replace the factory muffler. I hate to spend alot of money for little gain with the cat back systems. What aftermarket muffler will give me the best sound. I don't won't the droning noise, so what is the best one out there for performance and keep my wallet happy?

I'mm still a Dynomax #17233 Ultra Flo Welded fan, but there are a lot of other brands being used. You just need to find the sound you like and get it on there.

Flowmaster = best sound period. But, it may give drone in the 1800-2000 rpm area in lockup. A lot of people seem to like there magnaflows, though. I like dyno bullets myself, but they're kinda loud.

I HAVE flowmasters. I've heard magnaflows. I've seen bullets give good results for power.

I had a magnaflow 14" d/o installed to replace my factory muffler.

I originally had both pipes running out the rear under the bumper.

I had a little drone noise in the cab but not bad.

I was looking into the Dynomax. The wife drives the truck more than I do, so I don't want anything she will notice. lol

Sound clips would help, if anyone has some?

Are u kidding about the bullets? Those are straight thru glasspacks... I have those on my race car. lol

Anyone heard of a warranty voided because of mufflers? Just something to think about, I'm paranoid like that. lol

Well....I said they were loud.
Only your exhaust system from there back will be voided.

Thanks for the clip... a little too loud for me.

My dealer is fine with my muffler swap and CAI as far as warranty goes. I'm sure you'll be perfectly fine :)

I have a 6.2 and was really wanting a nice, little bit louder than stock sound. The 6.2 is a nice sounding engine but with the mods I want to do to it, I needed to open up the exhaust a little. I decided on the Dynomax Bullet and couldn't be happier. I have everything stock but just replaced the muffler and it was exactly what I was looking for. I had bought the muffler from my local muffler shop and it all cost me $80. Buying a muffler and installed for $80. Good deal to me.

This was the deciding factor that made me pull the trigger on that setup. No, this isn't my truck but mine sounds almost identical. The 6.2 has the straight rear exit design and I couldn't have picked a better sound. I had some people push me for the Magnaflow and once this guy told me about the decel pop that I HATE, I decided against it. You can tell in the revving clip that there is no pop at all and that is what I was looking for. It gives you a little deeper tone and just sounds awesome. The good thing about the Bullets are that you order them off you pipe size. Mine was a 3.5, I ordered a 3.5 and that was that. Totally worth the money. And if you don't like it, you are out $80. BTW, I put this on my 2010 LTZ and get compliments all the time. Hope that helps. I had one heck of a time deciding for that right sound so I know what you mean. I didn't want a hick sound or too tinny or loud and those Bullets are SWEEEET!

you didn t say if you have a 5.3 or 6.2 and there will be a difference in sound. The 6.2 has a resonator and the 5.3 don,t. My 5.3 flowmaster 70 series Big Block has no drone and is not loud but a lot deeper than stock It s also one of the cheapest. The 6.2 is more prone to droning that s why the resonator.

True. The 6.2 does have the resonater but a buddy of mine has the 5.3 and he has no exhaust past that flex fitting under the cab and is still sounds good. Probably too loud for ATX though. If you replace the stock exhaust with a Bullet in the same size diameter as your stock tubing, it won't be too loud IMO
