I'm sure i probably put this in the wrong section, anyway i know that dodge's are plagued with front ends wearing out quick but why? i look at the older gens and their front ends looks like they are built like tanks, the tie rods like 4 inches thick..much bigger then gm front ends  all the ones i see also seem to have a bad squeek and smell like burnt coolant lol

I worked for a large state agency and we had a lot of Dodge trucks. Everyone assumes we had them because they were better but it was because they were cheaper to fleet customers than the others. At one time we had over 75 Dudge 1500 & 2500 pu's in our region and more than 50% were on their 2nd trans. One we had the trans gave no waring, driver back it up and put it in drive and nothing. Many of these trucks never made the 100,000 mileage dead line and were pulled early from lease and auctioned off. Many replaced with Furds who was trying to out do Dudge in fleet Prices. I recall reason stated on the paper work; Vehicle being replaced due to frequent and severe maintenance trends

It's a well known fact which does not need evidence cited on here that everything Chrysler from the mid 70s on had serious reliability and quality issues. They were the worst out of the big 3. The only thing that kept Chrysler Corp from shutting down was when they introduced the 1984 minivans which turned out to be hot sellers. Even they had crappy reliability issues. Then what gave Chrysler a little boost was when they purchased AMC in the early 90s. The Jeep line were hot sellers. Also, the introduction of the Cummins Diesel into the truck line was a bonus, however Chrysler continued to suffer from crappy reliability well into this century. They are still the worst out of the big 3.

if Chrysler's Reliability was so Crappy in the Late 90s, how come my 1998 Plymouth has 211,000 MILES on it? Ryan, the ONLY Reason why Chrysler Quality has been Bad for the past 10 years is because of Mercedes Benz Crushing Chrysler to make their OVERPIRICED Piles of SHIT Look Better. (No offense to any M-B Owners here on GM-trucks.com) the Reason my Plymouth has over 200K on it is because of Dilligent Maintenence and because it was built in December of '97. Before you guys brand me as a Chrysler Lover and ban me, Consider this: Fiat is Pratically ERASING the past 10 years with the release of the 2011 lineup. Cars that were in need of a DESPERATE Refresh are getting what they need (And looking DAMN Good!), they are retuning the suspensions for better ride, the Pentastar V6 is the Engine they needed to replace the aging lineup of V6s, the Worthless Pile of Aluminum known as the World Engine is getting retuned for better NVH and power, they are dropping the 4 speed auto (Why, there's nothing wrong with it!) for an 8 speed, and putting back all the content that those German Blankity Blanks took away to make their Junk Look better. this is my opinion, and you can take it with a grain of salt.

I have owned 3 Rams over the years. A 1994, 2001, and 2004. The Second gen Rams I owned transmissions sucked and had to be replaced. Besides that, they were great. Im not a fan of torsion bars and enjoyed front springs way better, as well as a solid front axle. Even though the ride was a little worse. The 2004 was the most solid of the group. With the HEmi, you got the new 5 speed automatic. It shifted great even when I started to rack up the miles.

My biggest beef was the shotty dash material on the Second gen Rams 94-2001. Almost everyone one I have ever seen has been cracked. Ball joints aswell.

they had like a 80 hp Mitsubishi engine, and got 35-40 MPG, pretty much a golf cart you can legally drive...

No Bs.

Fella in our regional office got Dudge 4x2 pu in 1994 (new style truck). He turned in his old truck and picked up to the new Dudge from the motor pool and headed home some 400 miles North across the Mackinaw Bridge. Parked it in his driveway at night. Came out the next am to go to work and saw what he thought was a tree branch under the front, upon closer look he found the tie rod end had fallen off the spindle and was laying on the ground.

One of our supervisor got a new Chrysler wagon. Had it for about a month and took our secretary to lunch one day. When she opened the passenger front door to get out, if fell onto the sidewalk. The hinge pins were installed from the bottom. Everyone was busting a gut laughing when they came back from lunch with the car door in the back of the wagon. The dealer claimed he never seen anything like it.
