Rim Clearance

I know it's probably been asked before, and I'm going to ask it again.

 

I have a 2006 Sierra 1500 SLE (EX-CAB) with 17" rims. I know that the 2007+ Chev updated the entire truck line (new design) and that if you have a 17" rim, you can only put 17" and larger on.

 

With my older truck, will it accept 16" rims? I found a set of 6-bolt 16"x6.5 inch rims from a 99 Silverado. I'm hoping they'll fit and clear the brake calipers...but I want to ask you guys before I waste time on a set of rims that won't fit.

I'm pretty sure all 800s will accept 16's as until 04 they had 16's stock.

all 2005+ 1500s need 17" or larger wheels.

Listen to this guy then, he knows wayyy more about wheels and suspension on these trucks than I.

Alright. 2005+ need 17" rims or larger. Well, this makes my situation a little more interesting.
