Bds 6" Lift - Gears Needed

I have a 2008 5.3l with a 4 spd automatic and 3.73 gears. I currently have a RC level kit and 275 60 20 and feel no difference between it and stock setup.

 

Come tax season I will be putting on a BDS 6" and running 305/55/20 tires.

 

Thats the same size height wise as my tires now... Will i need to regear my truck? I see talk about 4.10's and whatnot but i really do not know what to think.

 

I assume if I chose 35's i would have to go to a 4.10 gear. correct?

 

I have my truck tuned up well with exhaust/intake/throttle/Edge Programmer etc etc etc... So power is not a concern more so my trans and rear gearing.

 

Opinions? Thoughts? Concerns?

Width and weight are going to compound the effects of the diameter.

 

Would be a waste to regear to 4.10s.

 

4.30s would be a better option. And if it were my truck I'd put in 4.56s......that way you're prepared for when you upgrade to 35s. (4.10s would be under geared for 35s with the 4spd).

3:73 to 4:10 gear swap won't net much change.

 

I too would go with 4:56's.

I wouldn't regear. If you decide to go with larger tires in the future then you can look into some 4.56's or even 4.88's.

On 2nd thought... why beat around the bush? With the 6" BDS go with 35s and 4.88s and be done with it.
