Well i think i just found something else to buy! Damn u! lol...

This would be saving my ass right now if i had it when some jackass recently pulled into my lane into my truck.. Still fighting the insurance on that one .

Does it take video with the screen up? also is that a tripod type screw adapter on bottom? I allready have a tripod mounted on my dash now for my hd pocketcam, but its a pain to use and dosent record like this one!

How does it turn on when you start vehicle? Is it wired into a 12v ign?

yes it videos with the screen up, it makes a start up chime when it starts and a shut down chime when it powers off, and a beep beep beep if there is an error, and all are very loud so you will here it.

yes it is a standard tripod threaded screw, but it is on the top of the unit and there is no way to flip the unit, it is designed to hang from the window.. it comes with a suction cup mount, I opted for the ram mount because it is solid, no vibration, and a cleaner install.

as for wiring, I tapped into (using one of those add-a-circuit fuse things) an ignition source in the fuse box on the drivers side, I wired a power port (cig light thingy) I got from pep-boys for $10 to it, then ran the cable under the upper headliner, down the drivers side "A" pillar and under the dash in the area under the steering wheel, I bolted that power port down there and just pluged in the lighter plug the unit comes with, this way it takes all of 5 minutes to remove all the wiring if I need too, and it powers up with the vehicle start and powers down when I shut off the vehicle.

since the unit has it's own internal battery (lasts about 2 hours) it will actually stay on for about 2 minutes after vehicle shutdown before it stops recording and shuts off.

Bringing this back up.

I've been having issues lately as well with people trying to commit insurance fraud, so I've decided to get me one of these. Actually, I'm planning on getting 3 more so that I can have almost 360 degrees of video coverage around for the next time someone tries to pull some crap on me. Mine doesn't have the HDMI port, but it works exactly the same as the OPs. The quality probably isn't quite as good, either. You can't make out people's license plates but you can tell which vehicle is which, where road signs are, whether or not a light is green or red, etc. Here's where I got mine: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003QWXGVY

I've been to Autozone and priced some cigarette lighter outlets and those add-a-circuit things. My question is: Will one of those add-a-circuit things be able to power all 4 cameras, or will I need to put in more than one?

The listing is no longer online, what make and model is this camera? The quality is great, so I'd like to find the same one on eBay.

depends on how many amps all 4 combined will take. keep the combined total under what the fuse to that cigarette lighter is and your good.

This appears to be the same one, but I'm not sure: http://www.amazon.com/Car-Black-Box-Kit-Re...=pd_sim_sbs_e_2

Also, here for less: http://www.sourcinggate.com/hd720p-portabl...en-p-11648.html

Oh, and this one: http://www.amazon.com/ACCIDENT-VIDEO-CAMER...S/ref=pd_cp_e_3

In my research, there are more than one that look identical to this one but the user interface is a little different. I'm not sure what that's about but I guess that's to be expected when you're buying cheap electronics from China. Mine is working great, and I'm actually considering getting another one just in case one of them goes out.

I like the idea . The only thing i would have a problem with is leaving it there for someone to do a smash and grab. Does it disconect easy ?

Mine does, whether it's from the lever on the suction cup or if I unscrew the camera from the mount. With a memory card mine was $50 so I don't obsess over taking it out of my truck all the time. The biggest issue now is that my screen has gone white all the time. I can't see or change any of the settings, but it does still record automatically (I checked the memory card on my computer a few times). I'm thinking the cold temperatures have cause this.
