Hope all your property turns out ok.

Hurricanes are a bi-tch!

I went through Hurricane Hugo in '89, ran out of town on our vacation by Andrew in '92, and had a few "leftovers" from other 'canes over the last several years.

Funny thing about Hugo.  My wife's first day of work at the Insurance Adjusters Co. she used to work at, was the day after Hugo hit.     Talk about a long, hard, first day at work!!  :D

I here ya. I live in southern region of central louisiana, and I expect all of our cane crop to be lying on the ground on friday. Lili is supposed to make landfall on thursday or friday at about 121-125 mph winds. Current moving towards us at 13 mph.

Now is when I wish I had to go to Baton Rouge to visit one of our subs.

I've been through several tornado's and would love to experience a hurricane.

Yes, call me nuts.

Ive literally been in one.  Tail end got thrown about 20 ft.  Scared the crap out of me.  Blew out all our windows on our cottage, flipped boats.

I learned you cant outrun a tornado hehe

We're about 100 miles inland from the coast.  The eye of Hugo when right over us and we had sustained winds of 120 MPH.  What was crazy was when the eye went over, it calmed down a little bit, but then started all over again when the backside went through. No power for about a week and a half.  No water for a few days, then we got cold water, but no hot until the power came back on.  Paid $10 per bag of ice    to keep the food in the coolers cold.  We cooked out for every meal, just so the food wouldn't really go to waste.  That was good though.  Sucked buying ice though.  ???

OK, your nuts!

Really Baton Rouge won't get it too bad,you gotta get down here on the coast if you really wanna get your skirt blown up. :uhoh: For Andrew we were without electricity for 2 weeks and I had 7 grand worth of damages, you gotta love allstate. I usually don't leave ,normally I would get a few cases, ice em down and watch the wind blow, but now since I have the travel trailer I gotta get it outta here. :(  Gonna roll outta here about noon tomorrow.I'm just taking the hurricane party on the road this time. :D

Yea, I guess Baton Rouge is a little to far inland.  I just want to go their and hit on the drunk LSU chicks at the pool hall my boss and I frequent.  :D

Yet another reason why Mardi Gras should be moved to VA.

I'd be careful in choosing my words if I were you. :D

It may actually do that.

Good Luck bud!

I lived thru Hugo as well.  We were about 60 miles inland.  It cut a 150 yard wide path through the woods comming straight for our house (in the woods).  It veered to the right, went around our house and then veered back to the left and continued to take out another mile or two of woods in a straight line.

We lost 260 trees on 2 acres.  The rest of it we didn't worry about.  Our house is approximately 400 yards off the road.  It was 2 weeks before we had power and a clear driveway.

The local college apartments had quite a few Hurricane kegger parties.  The college is about 3 miles from my (mom's) house.
