Looking for a good way to add an ipod to my factory radio. I used the search. Didnt find anything. I have the stock bose with the indash cd player and xm. I dont want to use the radio frequency thing. Too much static. Anyone done this?

I was going to put the "Peripheral iPod® GM Interface Kit" ISGM73, but ended up putting in a Kenwood deck instead.

Good info on it at Crutchfield here:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_541ISGM73/Per...Kit.html?tp=120

Not sure if it will work with Bose and XM though? My stock stereo was the regular CD deck.

sadly crutchfield is way more expensive than anyone else. Their cheapest option is 149$. Amazon has an adapter for 54. Seems like a good option. Cant believe no one else chimed in on this.

Your best bet for high quality sound is to put an aftermarket deck in with usb and direct Ipod controls, gmos adapter will allow you to keep the Bose,if it's in your budget you won't be sorry

I have the iSimple ISGM575 in my Avalanche, it works great!

Could you elaborate a little on the isimple.... It seems like a good solution for me. I have an '03 silverado lt and an 04 avalanche lt. At the moment the plan is to use ipods... we live in the mountains and the itrip faids out

I googled iSimple ISGM575 and I see there is a box with a couple wire harnesses.

1) what is exposed to inferace with

2) did you install or have a shop do it if a shop did it what did they charge or how long did it take?

3) is there any programing or controls on that box in the picture when googled?

thanks Jim

1) Not quite sure what you mean. You have to the disconnect the factory wiring from the factory radio, and then the iSimple wiring harness plugs in between the factory radio and wiring harness.

2) I installed it myself, and it probably took me no longer than half an hour to do it.

3) No reprogramming is needed. There are small DIP switches on the box, but they are only used if you ever have to update the software on the box.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions.

Oh, it comes with a 12 ft. cable that plugs into your iPod and the box. It also comes with another cable that has RCA jacks and a 3.5mm plug, which allows you to connect other brands of MP3 players.

I think the CD AUX button is for some trucks that had an external CD changer, to use the iSimple you have to select XM. You won't lose your factory XM radio if you have it, but selecting it will be slightly different if you install the iSimple.

I love the iSimple kits. I have put one in my sisters Pontiac G6 and my 06 Silverado. I got mine off of eBay. The kit comes with a plug-n-play harness for you truck. You must have a "band" button on your factory radio. My radio has the band button, but I did not have XM/Sat service but the headunit acknowledged the iSimple box after plugging it in. Below is the kit listed for you vehicle on ebay from the vendor I have used both times.

iSimple kit and harness from PAC Audio (ebay seller elektek.1)

I wonder if this will be a solution to being able to use an iPod in my GF's Jeep Grand Cherokee. She's been bugging me to find a way to do it so it looks like I will have to research this option. Thanks! :)
