I'm not looking to get larger really, but wider.

Currently it has stock 235/75/R15s.

I want to know if i can fit 265/75R15s on it, or if not, how wide i can go. Just looking for more traction in the snow, without getting snow tires.

Getting a "wider" tire is the last thing you wanna do for traction in the snow, narrower is better. Funny you should mention that size tire as I have a 95 LT Blazer 4x4 that I just put 265/75/15 tires on it (on the stock rims)...I had them lying around so I had nothing to loose trying them. I'm a member of the "Blazer Forum" and they said they would not fit, turns out in my case they did though...only at full lock with the power steering chattering does one side rub the inner frame and vice versa when the wheel is turned the other way. This vehicle is "not" lifted either.

If I was to do it again and had to purchase tires particular "just for snow" I would get the factory size in a snow rated tire.

On a side note I can't give you an idea how well my tires handle in the snow as I have yet to drive it in any snow with them yet just on wet and dry roads.

Wider tire = more floatation, more contact area, more traction on snow.

More floatation??? You wanna float on the surface of snow??? The idea is to cut to the bottom for traction, narrow tire does this also providing more weight in the smaller contact area. I own 3 4x4 trucks and a 4x4 Rhino and have experimented with many tires. I do have very large tires on one of my trucks and yes it does go through the snow but I gotta say the other two with the narrower tread are better. Even my offroad Rhino likes a narrower tires in the snow.

I just did a google search and found endless articles backing up what I say, anybody else here agree with me... :)
