Replaced Wheel Bearing, Warning Lights On Now

I was driving my 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 L, crew cab, 4wd Z71 (not the classic - new body style) Christmas Day when the front right wheel bearing decided to go. Only option I had on Sunday was getting the Duralast brand from Autozone to fix so I could get home. The hub assembly fit fine - however the connector on the new ABS sensor wire was different than the OEM connector on the truck. So I cut the OEM connector off the bad ABS sensor wire and soldered it on to the new Autozone ABS sensor wire - so I could connect new Autozone ABS sensor wire to OEM ABS wire on the truck.

Now the service traction control, service stabilitrak lights and warning messages are on. Is the ABS sensor wire that I modified messing everything up ? Or is the entire wheel/hub assembly wrong ? Or do I need to just reset the computer or something ?

Thanks.

Well that sucks! Sounds like it may be the wrong part, but it wouldn't hurt to pull the negative on the battery and let it sit for a few minutes, maybe that would clear it. If it is the wrong part I guess you would be on the hook for the new part as it has been modified......hope it works out, sorry I couldn't be more help. :)

If wired incorrectly, you will kill the abs sensor in the hub bearing once it is plugged in and the ignition turned on. Also, the new sensor could just be faulty or the incorrect one, considering that the connector wasn't correct. GMT-900 trucks and utilities use a different style ABS sensor and system than GMT-800 and previous trucks. Not super easy to diagnose without the proper equipment.

Yeah - it did suck ... seeing as how my 3 toyotas never left me stranded like that ... and this is the second GM product to leave me stranded on a holiday. I will try pulling the negative battery cable for 10 minutes and put back on to see if that fixes the problem.

I am assuming I wired it correctly - because there were only 2 wires - white and black. But I have no way of knowing 100% sure that my assumption was correct. The Autozone part came with the ABS sensor wire attached - so I assume it was the right one for that assembly - but I am not sure if the actual assembly was the right one. Who knows ... I may end up replacing the whole thing again with the right part and sensor wire.

** Update - disconnected negative battery cable for 10 minutes ... started truck up ... messages came back on ... good gosh ... guess I will be calling Autozone to see what they have to say first.

Well - big surprise - Autozone sold me the wrong part. Just bought the new (correct one today) - we will see how the install goes tonight. Hopefully this fixes the problem.
