Body Side Moldings Collect Tar

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra. In the Minnesota winter, lots of snow, the truck is constantly dirty and I wash it a couple times a week. The plastic body side moldings do not come clean in the wash, in fact they get sticky with a tar like substance and I need very strong soap or bug/tar remover to clean them off. The sheet metal above and below washes off normally. Is this some new material or something?

I don't know about the new trucks, but some of the older ones( 01 or so) had problems with molding being discolored. I haven't seen any new ones like that. Don't know of any bullitins. Hopefully someone else can help.

Its that chemical residue they use with salt that is on your molding, I cant remember the name of it but it puts a film on the molding that gets sticky and efffects plastic more so then metal. I had some of that that I put on my driveway and the bottom of my shoes were like fly paper.

They used it here last year when we had the big snow and I had the same problem so did some friends of mine on there vehicles.
