Instant Fuel Economy

Does anyone know if instant fuel economy can be programed into DIC? I guess GM doesn't want us to know how bad fuel economy is on the HD's. Even though the '11 is already better than the '08 I would still like to know without having to reset the average economy all the time.

No, it can't be done. Just let the average go for a few tanks. That will give you a good indication of what the mileage really is. I haven't reset it in my '08 3500 duramax for over a year. Sits right now on 19.5...

You sure its not average instead of instant? If I reset mine, it's instant for a while

Instant has never been on diesels; it was on gas engine trucks until 2011.

$60 and it will give you the info you seek, I have it on my 2010 Avalanche, though not for the instant MPG and such, but because I wanted actuals numbers for Trans Temp, Voltage, Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp, Intake Air Temp, etc.

 

 

it has multiple programmable screens and the instant and average MPG is based off an algorithm based on settings you make (engine displacement, fuel tank size, etc)

 

 

and having that damn instant MPG in my face all the time as gotten my average to 19.5mpg and I am getting over 600 miles out of tank, it's amazing how quickly you back off the throttle when you see it drop to 2.5 mpg..

It was on diesels until 2006 when GM eliminated about 20 "invisible" options to save money. I know this because I owned an 03 and my uncle has an 05.
