Adding Subs To Stock Hu

I have everything setup already, and all my wires run. I also hooked everything up and tried it out. But, I was using a PAC converter that I had from an older truck I had that had a Bose systems in it. I thought there may be a chance that it would work on my non-Bose system. No go there. It sent all of my signal to the RCA outputs and none to the door speakers. I assume thats because of the differemce in the harness wire locations between Bose nd non-Bose.

Im eventually going to replace my HU but I cant afford it now. So, I want to get my system up and runnning as cheaply as possible for now.

So here are my questions.

Is there any way to rewire the PAC converter I have to save some money? I think I could rewire it if anyone has the pinout schematics for the Bose and non-Bose HUs.

If not, what else can I do to get it going?

Considering that you already have the PAC converter you can just buy the input side wire harness for your truck, if its non Bose then you need a PAC AOEM-GM1416 set of cables. PAC harness

Thats the one I have but the problem Im having is that it only sends the signal to the subs through the RCAs and completely shuts off all signal to the factory harness to the door speakers. I didnt have this prolem with the truck that had Bose.

Im also looking for a solution that will not cost me any money. There is no point in spending money getting this system opperating, when im gonna replace the HU eventually. I have the HU, I just need the chime adapter, the steering wheel control adapter, and a dash kit. If I have to buy an adapter for the factory HU, then that just puts me that much more behind.

It will work but takes a little re-engineering of the Pac harness, I did that for my 09 Sierra when I installed a Nav radio. On the Pac harness at each speaker connection going to the PAC module you have to split the connection so that each speaker wire is just going to the Pac module ,then on the wire that connects back to the factory harness you connect each channel of the sound back from your amp. So when its done you have 4 channels down to the amp with rca's then have a 9 wire cable running back up to the Pac harness connecting to the 8 remaining wires , the amp trigger wire is also connected to the pac. Its easier than it sounds but it does work and retained my chimes & blinkers.

This way it does still use your factory speaker wiring without any cutting of the factory harness.

Wait........What???????

This will allow me to run the factory door speakers off of the HU? The only thing I want powered is the subs. I just want all of the speakers to work like nothing has been changed.

Yep.... If you only want the sub with the sub amp from the HU then you don't need to cut any wires , just use that last wire harness from sonic with your pac module (OEM-1 ) and pick the front or rear channel and run the sub from them , nothing will change other than you are getting the signal out of the pac harness for the sub :D , I had to cut the pac harness in order to get the signal to amp then back to original speaker wires . I used a 4 channel Pioneer GM-9500F amp with the pac module and a Blaupunkt sub

If I was you I would just go ahead and buy the new head unit now. They are pretty cheap, it won't be wasted money on an adapter or anything, and you'll be done with it.

Im confused. Im wanting the HU to power the factory speakers and the amp to power the subs only. Is that the way you did, Monty? If so, do you have a picture or drawing of how you modified the PAC harness?

I have a cheap aftermarket HU now, I just need the chime adapter and the dash kit. but, I was trying to wait until I get the steering wheel control adapter. Whats the point in having it if it doesnt work? Right?
