well, might as well ask you guys

I've got an idea, and appearently no one has tought of it except for me, cause I can't get a "for sure" answers. I never planned on asking you guys here cause you all have the LS1 based, but maybe one of you will know.....

I plan on eventually getting the self-aligning rocker arms that were originally on the LT-4 engine, made by crane cams.  I'm estimated around 25 or more RWHP gain, just in that swap.

So far the only problem that could potentially happned is clearance.

Do you guys think it would work?

Also, do any of you know of a higher clearance center-bolt valve cover, so I could do this?

I would think you could find some taller center bolt valve covers.  Do you know how much taller you would need?  If I happen to find any on the net, I'll let you know.  :thumb:

I believe the GM Performance Parts catalog has a set of tall valve covers that would work. Don't know what kind of clearances you need but they're only 1/4" taller than stock.  They're available in black or chrome & part #'s are 12497979 & 12497985, respectively. Don't have prices, so you'll have to call your local dealer or do an online query for prices.

Good luck.

wierd I have a GMPP catalog and never saw those...Thanks!!!

tom, I'm not sure how much taller, I was just told that they might now fit, so I'm guessing it dosen't have to be much.

Looking at the site, those covers are brand new, sweet, my catalog is a few years old!

Those look good, can't wait untill I get a job!!!

Thanks guys......

I put a set of Comp Cams ProMagnum 1.6 Roller Rockers, LT4 springs, retainers, locks, and hardened pushrods on my LT1 and picked up 19 rwhp and 9 ft.lbs. of torque at peak.  I can e-mail you a before/after dyno sheet if you want.

I believe you. I'm betting that a relatively simple swap like this, even with stock heads, will really liven this thing up(a truck engine). I'm hoping to gain a lot of throttel response and get a little quicker rev with this.  I can't wait till I get enough money...... :jester:
