The other morning when it was -10c a lifter or lifters were very noisy upon start up and warm up.Truck is an 08 5.3 AFM running 5-30w full syn oil.Truck has 40 K kilometers on it.Anything I should be concerned with? Glad its got a 5yr 160km powertrain warranty

Chevy's 5.3L engine has had this "side effect" always. Yet they still get a million miles out of those engines. Basically don't worry.

its normal....i read on here that it has to do with the lifterings being pumped up by the oil pressure or somethen..

Normal condition when the temp is that cold. Oil is colder and thicker and will take longer to pump up the hydraulic lifter to 0 lash. The ticking you hear is lash in the valvetrain between the pushrod and rocker arm. When fully pumped up the noise goes away the result of the lifter being pumped up @ 0 lash.
