Verizon Iphone 4 Hates My Gm Factory Bluetooth - Please Help!

Just got the new iPhone for Verizon with OS 4.2.6 and I am having issues with it connecting to my factory bluetooth. Specifically, it will pair perfectly (tried numerous times now), connect when the truck is started, and even go thru the process of making a call or receiving a call just like my blackberry, but when it goes to connect (outgoing or incoming call) it drops and the radio comes back on - but the phone still thinks its making a call (no call is actually in progress through).

I love the phone, but I really miss the bluetooth - someone please help. I have tried re-pairing, but I have no other ideas....

You got 14 days to return the phone. Try a DroidX. My truck loves mine.

Yeah I would say it's the phone and not the truck since it worked with your blackberry. Mine works great with my ENV2 and I wish I could get DROIDX (data plans cost too much). Since the Verizon iPhone is new, you may have to wait for some kind of software fix if others report it too. The Verizon and AT&T iPhones are different so I'm curious if any AT&T iPhones have the same issue as your Verizon one.

I researched the issue online and found that a lot of people had the issue with a previous software version for AT&T but that the newer software fixed it. I was hoping that Apple would have addressed it for the Verizon phone, but I guess not

My Verizon iPhone seems to be working perfectly. It might be that specific phone. You should try exchanging at the Verizon store for another. The only issue I seem to have with my bluetooth is that when I receive a call the number shows correctly on my dash were as the outgoing calls it doesn't show any number.

It's an OS issue with Apple, not your truck. Seen literally hundreds of issues with iPhone and even some Blackberry pairing issues with GM bluetooth systems. The Motorola phones seem to work perfect everytime, btw.

After tons of research and two new replacement phones here is what I have learned:

1. Verizon iOS 4.2 has many known issues with Bluetooth (hopefully the iOS 4.3 update will fix this - rumored to come out on 2/28/2011) that iOS 4.0 and earlier didnt have

2. Bluetooth will work intermitently - turning off 3G and wireless will help with this

3. Having the phone set up via Microsoft Exchange and syncing email, calendar, and contacts seems to make bluetooth work less frequently (or not at all)

4. Most bluetooth headsets will exhibit similar symptoms, however not as frequently as the truck bluetooth connection

I originally thought it was a GM issue and went to talk with my dealer. They were extremely willing to work with me on the issue and set up and appointment with the electronics tech/guru to work on it. After more research I determined it is Apple's problem and cancelled the appointment since I didnt want to waste their time.

Until Apple fixes this I am stuck without bluetooth in the truck....

Thanks. Came to the conclusion before you posted. Only time wasted on this is mine (dont consider the hours on the phone with Apple to be wasting their time since its their problem).

I love Apple products, always have, couldnt leave Verizon due to coverage issues with ATT where I use my phone, and now that I have the best of both worlds I thought I was all set - too bad Apple cant figure out what should be a simple element of a "smart phone"

I had no problems with my iPhone 3G or iPhone 4 (both AT&T).

system works flawlessly, wish it would connect quicker, but 30-45 seconds isn't too bad.

Well Apple released iOS 4.2.7 for the Verizon iPhone this weekend and it appears to have fixed my bluetooth issues. Only limited testing at this point, but so far I havent been able to get it to screw up...

Will update after further testing, but so far it looks like iOS 4.2.7 is the fix I was waiting for
