Upgraded my phone last night. Ordered a LG Cosmos Touch. Anyone have it? Opinions? I read all the reviews but you can never tell. Some people love them, some hate them. I have had 3 LG phones now and I love them. The main thing is battery life to me. My last phones I have had, all would go about a week on a charge. I do some texting and calls, no data package, but this is my only phone. No landline here so it gets used. Just wondered if anyone had any opinions?

My son has one, (12 years old) and he likes it. No issues to speak of and his has good battery life. Like you, no data plan but does texting... so....

Thats where i usually only go to review something before i buy ..

I didn't check this particular site, but I googled it and read a bunch of reviews. Pretty typical, some people like some hate it. Im pretty sure you would get that about any phone out there.

CNet can be helpful, you just need to realize they're a bunch of tech snobs and if it isn't the latest and greatest thing out there, they demerit it for that, even if the product isn't trying to be groundbreaking.

I've seen younger kids with them and it blows my mind too. Part of me wants to shrug it off because it's obviously not my kid or my money but at the same time I have to wonder about what it may be doing to people as I totally agree with those who say that lots of younger people (and I'm only 26 mind you) have poor social skills because they primarily communicate though text messaging and whatnot. It shows. But that's another topic. I've always had good luck with LG phones in the past for what it's worth.

I have seen 9 year olds with cell phones, LG always made good phones i don't think you should have a problem, I wouldn't buy a touch screen through. I don't think any touch screen will last long and they get scratched a lot easier.

That part isn't true on the higher end touch screens. I can drag a knife across my Droid and not scratch it. Go on youtube and search for gorilla glass test.

I don't disagree at all, but it's up the to the parents to make sure they have proper skills to communicate. I like my son having his own phone for reasons of sports and other activities. I want him to know he can always get in touch with us if needed. And I want to know I can get ahold of him too.

I refuse to buy another LG phone after having a Xenon and then VU Plus. They are about the same phone, but the Vu Plus is newer. I had to get the Xenon replaced under insurance because the touchscreen randomly stopped working one day. They sent me a replacement Xenon, which also had a malfunctioning touch screen from day 1. Then they sent me a Vu Plus, which is just as crappy. Their OS crashes/restarts a lot and the signal level is poor compared to a lot of my friends phones.

You don't need to defend your reasoning for getting him a phone- I don't have kids and am smart enough to steer clear of making judgments on things I have no experience in. ;)

That said, when I was his age and had after school activities, the pay phone always seemed to work. I was "given" a cell phone when I turned 16 and started driving but I also was given the bill to pay each month.

I used to have an LG Keybo and it was a great phone if that helps you at all. Only LG phone I've had but can't say as though I had any complaints about it.

I've not seen a pay phone in a few years now. At least not one that was in a convenient place  And I wasn't defending myself.... just stating why I feel my son should have one. And I we did the phone juggling thing for a while and this was just easier.

You may be right about pay phones- I can't say I have used one in the last decade or so. :) It just seems weird cause looking back I can't see myself ever needing one at that age. But I think every generation says that about younger ones. I'm not already getting old am I?

Just an update. I have had the phone for a few days now. It took a little bit to get used to the touch screen. ( My last 4 phones have been flip phones.) I do like it. No complaints as yet. I will update back later on down the road. also the battery life seems to be decent. Been 2-3 days and I have 3 out of 4 bars left. I am a stickler on battery life. Lg seems to have good batteries IMO. My last 3 phones have been Lg's and they all will go a week on a charge.
