Why do we need to log in to view the forums?

Sometimes I do like to surf anonymously!!  But everytime I view this board, I have to log in.

I get logged in automatically somehow.  Not a bad thing but if I wanted to be anoymous, I couldn't.

That's cause you don't clean out your cookies and history folders.  I clean mine everyday.

That and because it prevents the server load from increasing off of lurking guests.

If your going to gain from the site, might as well register. Because thats what supporting vendors like to see, more registered members. Well, that and people buying stuff from them...

At the log in screen there's a line at the bottom that's labeled PRIVACY with a check box that says "Don't add me to the active user's list".  If you put a check mark in that box would that make you "anonymous"?

Yes, then your name will not show up on the active users list...
