I have a 2005 Sierra Denali and would like to make it faster. I have a Thunder Racing custom tune, Volant cold air kit, and Flowmaster exhaust. I ran 15.1 last time out at the track and was a little let down. Any ideas to get this bad boy up to speed. I have the need but lack the abilty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I'd do....

 

Ditch the Flowmaster for Corsa or borla

Install long tube headers

Install cam

Re-gear

Re-tune

 

Anyone of those will help, but all of those will def. get the results your looking for.

No sense in ditching the flowmaster.JBA headers,3200 stall,shift kit,vette servo.My buddy ran this setup in his 2001 silverado ext cab he was running 13.'s all day with radials.

Yep, its the 6.0. Those are some great suggestions, 13's would be great. I have put a cam in my camaro before but that was just an old school carb 4 bolt main. How hard is the cam swap in these trucks?

 

My exhaust is dumped right before back axle, should I run all the way out?

What is a good match for us on the headers? Don't want to deal with leaks all the time.

These genIII/IV are just as easy to put a cam in as the old sbc genI/II, but you must remember you're talking about a computer controlled engine here and it will have to be tuned to your mods.

When I swap cams, I can't drive it until it's reprogrammed or it just won't perform right.

Depends on the cam. Probably just wont run right, you really have to do a lot to make the computer so far off it is not safe to run short term. Biggest nono would be bigger injectors with stock programming, that can be catastrophic.

 

A stall is a great gofast mod and with the quality ones available today they don't have anywhere near the drawbacks most people think of when you hear "high stall".

 

I think I have Castec heads on my truck and if I verify that it will be getting ported heads and a cam sooner rather than later. Based on the results they gave me with my street/strip car I am going to get heads and cam from n.com Advanced Induction
