Rough Country Says New Design Of 3" Lift Is 100% Make Over?

from 3" to 3.5"*

I noticed it was now a 3.5" lift kit. Well they said they changed the bushings and the ball joints on the a-arms and you should not have any problems with it now. They said the spacer is the same just how they install it now give you the extra half inch. what r your thoughts?

I may try out the 4.75" combo. all i truly want to run is a 33x12.5.

Good luck. I've already expressed my thoughts several times to you and several others. It is still too similar to the old 3" lift. Of course they are going to say it is re-designed and better. No thanks.

I've said time and time again:

CCM + Zone 1.5 = cheaper price, bigger lift, and smoother ride.

Plus, those weren't all of the problems. I never had a problem with the ball joints, they were greasable. The UCAs rubbed the coils and the front end never aligns right.

Also, if all you want to run is 33" tires, you can do that with just a leveling kit. I just don't understand why you keep asking about this lift, and I know we all ask questions, I asked all the same ones when I tried it. Peoe warned me, I called RC, and they said everything was fine so I bought it despite all the warnings.

Hell, whith what your wanting to do, a leveling kit would work. I'm not sure why you want to risk this piece of shit lift after all of the warnings. Even an easier solution to your question is:

RC 2" leveling kit + their 1.25" BL

Even cheaper than the 3.5 and with no risk of f'ing up your suspension with their "re-designed" 3" kit, and I bet smoother riding also.

I don't care what they make their bushings out of or how they sugar coat it.... 3+ inches without accounting for tie rod angles is bad news, especially for that expensive rack & pinion system in gmt900 trucks. They also dont do anything for the lower balljoint.....

Its a joke, just like the 4" readylift. $.02

Yeah, and I just don't understand why you don't just throw a zone 1.5" or the RC 1.25" on top of your leveling kit and calling it a day. Instead, you want to risk all of the warnings and put that shitty lift on your truck, getting rid of the leveling kit you already have, installing or having someone install another lift for three times the price....

And end up with the same amount of lift you could achieve by just adding one of the small body lifts.

If you got the money do it, you may love it.

I would not worry about the lower ball joints, independent trucks have ran 3" of lift in the front for decades. I use too on my old Tacoma. Upper ball joints are another story.

I would not worry about tie rods either. I have never heard anyone have problems with them, other then normal wear

My old Tacoma took 5 times to get aligned by Firestone. When it finally did it was by a guy who had worked there very long time and knew what he was doing.

The control arm rubbing the coil issue should have been fixed by now. Its a very simple fix.

No matter what you do the the truck it will have some negative consequences. A 6" lift will be bad on something. Even bigger tires are bad.Would I run the lift, prolly not. I don't want another maxed at suspension like my Tacoma. Does it look good, yes.

RC had problems when they first released the kit in 2007-2008. Does anyone know personally the kit still does not work? Its 2011 now they could have fixed all the bugs by now. They prolly just rushed to be the first, just like the buyers rushed to be the first and the kit turned out to be total crap, becuase no one tested it.

All Im saying is its been 4 years and the kit is still around. I think people still hate on it because they used it in 2007-2008. If anyone does say they have had good luck with the new kits they get bashed for having it.

Well, I had my truck re aligned 5 times by 2 different shops and they could never get it line right. And I agree with some of what you are saying, it "should be fixed" by now. It just isn't worth the risk for what he is trying to achieve lift wise when there are better/cheaper solutions than this kit (even if they did re-design it right this time). I've already been down that road.

Oh, and I ran the kit late '09 - early '10 (about 4 months)

Well any company that takes 4 years to properly engineer a suspension kit is not a company I care to deal with. That kit was trash and it burned me enough to where I won't buy anything from RC again. There are too many well built systems out there that don't take years of putting out crappy designs to get it right.

I agree - and it seems like you and I are the only ones who voice our opinions on this lift. I don't want someone to get burned or waste their money like us, but I'm getting tired of these threads popping up (even with all of the other negative comments about it on other threads/forums). Just tired of repeating myself.

If i was going to do it i would go a head and put he 1.25" BL lift on now and do the wheels/tire combo 1st if it rubbed then i would do the 3.5" kit. They said the get on the truck sites and read what people say. They said they had a cheap ball joint and bushings on the A-arm and it helped the kit a lot. I just dont want the look of the truck with too much tire not enough lift. I want a good balance. The wheels i like will stick out a half inch more because of the offset so i will need more room to clear. its no hard work! its easy to swap out if i dont like it ill send it back and try a 2.5" level. hell some people have had the older junk kit for years now and no problems.

Zone 1.5" or RC 1.25" on top of your leveling kit = problem solved.

Adding a BL to your setup now will fit fine. No need to risk this crap.

And it will look just fine with stock wheels until you get your setup.

Screw taking it off and sending back if it don't work. That is just stupid. And people probably just don't realize that they are having problems with the old kit or just don't care

NickS with a 0 offset wheel you are NOT going to clear a 33x12.5 with just a 2" level kit anda 1.25 or 1.5" body lift. Guys with more offset than that have had to trim in order to clear those size tires with 4" BDS suspension lifts.

He would need a 3" body lift + 2" level kit to clear a 33x12.5..
