I had gone back and forth on what type of bedliner I wanted for the new truck between Line-x, Rhino, and Speedliner. My 04 Crew had the OEM plastic bed rails from the factory and I thought it would be a good idea to go over the top of the rail for the new truck to offer some protection on the bed. I was afraid the regular Line-x or Rhino would fade and didn't know what it would look like a few years down the road. I ran across a local installer that was doing a promotion this month on the new fade resistant Line-x Premium that I understand is supposed to be replacing Line-x X-tra. Anyway he agreed to do the Premium at the regular Line-x price. So I have a new SHINY Line-x. First impressions are that it is much blacker than the original Line-x like I had in my 04 and it really has a nice gloss. I tried to get some descent pictures, but it was dark when I got home so the first two below taken in my garage are a little darker than the liner actually appears. The tailgate shot below gives the best idea of what it looks like in person it was taken today in bright sunshine. Anyway for someone considering the new Line-x Premium I give it a defininte

Awesome! Line-X is still on my list of things to do. Can't wait to get it done though. Probably gonna go over the rails like you. Do you mind posting a side and rear shot of the rails?

Be sure to come back and post a "long term" review of the new premium.

Looks really good. I plan to line-x this summer. I had it on my last pickup and I don't think you can beat line-x. I didn't know about the new premium, so great post.

I'll be glad to take a couple more shots, but it has rained here and the truck is nasty as all get out. May be a few days before I get her cleaned up but I'll take some pictures when I do. Unless something happens to the truck (or me) I plan on being here long term. Been a member since of GM-trucks since 2002

The premium is darker in color than the regular Line-x and on the taupe gray it looks good (IMO) over the rails. One thing, the premium stayed tacky for a few hours after being sprayed. Drove home with the tailgate down and left if down all night. The feel of it is seems identical to how I remember my previous line-x job.

Had mine done yesterday... White, over the rail...

Very nice. That's the first white liner I've seen. My last truck was white, and this wasn't an option, but I like it.

Thanks guys! It was too much like everything today. $750. for the white over rail.

Hmmm mines super shiney too but there was no mention of premium or whatever. I just went in and asked for over the rail and thats what I got. I thought the gray color was a result of fade over time I didnt realize this was a new material altoether as this is my first Linex/ Yee haww good to know

I love the look of this stuff though

I believe Premium is a fairly new product for Line-x. They have had Line-x Xtra for a while, but I think I read that Premium is a replacement for Xtra. My bill of sale listed it as a $75 upgrade. I got very lucky on price though. My dealer was having a February special for Premium at the regular price. I can see the color option adding a lot to the price, but you should get out the door with Premium in black for somewhere in the $500 (+/-) range. You could go under the rail and save even a few more $$. I thought about installing plastic bed rail covers like the oem ones my 04 crew had, but those on that truck warped. For me this time, it seemed smarter to spray the rail and forget about the possibility of warping plastic rails.

    • Actually, it probably was the brakes.  It's weird the way the messages came across, but I took it to the dealer thinking that something was wrong with the sensor and in fact, the rear brakes were shot.  What I don't understand is why the messages never said, your brake pads are low.  First I got the message I posted above, taking about new pads being detected.  Then I got a message saying that the system needed repaired.  It never said, change your brake pads.
    • Did the KYBs keep it the same height in the front? I was concerned that pre-assembled assembly would raise it up an inch to standard non-z60 height.. I guess which it would make the rake 1 inch instead of 2 inches.
    • Thank you for keeping the train on the tracks and for a thoughtful engagement. I enjoyed the reflection on a previous stance to refine and improve your position. I like that inquisitive flexibility about you Atlas.    No the process isn't sterile. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of miles of piping, vessels, pumps. Chevron, the people I worked for, were keenly aware that there is a market for what is known as their "ISOCLEAN" line of lubricants. These are lubricants that are the same as those sold bulk that are further processed by filtration to a level your particular application demands. They will filter and package and provide lab documentation as required. Do not kid yourself. Every gallon of oil that goes into a Chevron Turbine, reciprocating compressor, generator is prefiltered and tested before being charged. Lest wise it was when I was there in the plants I worked in.    There are requirements set by manufactures for the cleanliness of the oils used in their equipment. OTR such as CUMMINS has standards shared with customers on this. Commercial interest selling to Ma and Pa do, but don't share that information. Not even upon request but internally, they do exist.    The GM study sited, (Graph from Machinery Lubrication in previous post) only shows "relative" importance.  I find that fascinating. By constructing the graph like this they admit there are dozens of factors in engine life and via scientific method determined the effect of 'relative cleanliness' on engine life not in miles but in 'FACTORS'. This allows a certain amount of reverse engineering does it not?   They even provided some touchstones. Beta 75 as a reference point. Wonderful stuff!!   Smaller blenders CAN and some DO take the time and effort to do better than a refinery or large bulk blender, like Warren Oil, in improving the "in the can" cleanliness. No I don't have a list but testing could generate that information.    Again, but one of several levers we can pull to improve engine life. The simplest is keeping a clean work station while doing your own oil changes.
