Road Noise

OK, so I'm fairly set on buying a set of OEM 20" wheels with the Goodyear Eagles or similar street tires for the summer months. I have the stock 17" wheels and All-Terrain tires which come standard with NHT trucks, and they give off quite a bit of road noise. I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has switched between these setups, either from 17s to 20s or vice versa.

Is there a noticeable reduction in road noise with the 20s?

Also, is the truck's handling improved significantly?

My thinking is that while I do love the A/T tires and extra sidewall of my current setup in the winter months, I would love the quieter ride and improved handling that I suspect the 20s would provide.

Not to offend anyone, but I'm looking for real-world experience ONLY!

My brother has a 2009 with 17s and Goodyear AT/S and they do produce a lot of road noise, but my old 18s with AT/S did not. It may have been because his are P rated (I think) and mine were LT. The tread is a little different between P and the LT.

As far as handling improving for me going from my 18s to 20s I have no idea. I don't drive my truck fast or hard to tell. My mpg went up do to the light weight street tires and the ride is some what smoother.

Either way factory tires suck and you are better off getting different ones. Just depends if you like the looks of bigger wheels

You have the rims I'm thinking about.

I sold my NHT rims and put on 20s, the road noise was slightly worse, but I attribute it mostly to tires, i put on Bridgestone Fuzion A/Ts. Handling was greatly improved.

Stock 20s are 275/55r20. Your speedo will be off less than 1 mph. If the speedo says 65 you will be going 65.9

Tires are .5 inches taller.

Great info. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm stuck between the factory 8-spoke 22" wheels (chrome), or the factory 5-spoke 20" wheels (polished). If anyone has experience with the difference in ride/NVH between 20's and 22's on a GMT900, don't be shy.
