Onstar App For 2010 Models

Well yesterday the MyLink application was released and here are the vehicles that are listed in the statement:

Cadillac DTS

Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT

Buick Enclave

Lucerne

GMC Acadia

Yukon, Yukon XL

Chevrolet Avalanche

Impala

Suburban

Tahoe

Traverse

I have a 2009, but encourage you guys to try it on your 2010s. I know that our trucks aren't listed, but the SUVs are so maybe it will work on ours.

On a side note, does anyone know what module allows the use of this application? Is it something that can be modified to other model years?

I know that the 2011s are different from the 2010s and 2009s, but is there really a difference between the 2009s and the 2010s as far as the OnStar module goes?

The MyLink app lets you control functions of your vehicle such as:

*Remote Start

Door Locks

Panic Horn

Fuel Level

Tire Pressure

Odometer Reading

*This is assuming that you have Remote Start already

The nice thing is that there is no distance limitation so you can start the car and let it warm up from anywhere or let your girlfriend get something out of it if you are out of town.

Well that sucks. Does anyone know what makes them work in the SUVs and not in the Trucks? What is different?

OnStar is too much money, but then again, there is the cool factor. If OnStar was $5-7 per month, it would be worth considering, but it is priced out of range for most.

One year of Onstar is cheaper then one unlock if your keys are in the truck!

That is always the way that I look at it too. It would definitely be worth it if I could figure out how to get the MyLink thing, but it is looking pretty bleak at this point.

I have AAA and I have a spare key with FOB.

I was looking at OnStar prices ($199 per year without turn by turn directions). Does a unlock really cost $200 where you are?

Don't leave your keys in the truck

I agree. I'd pay $29 a year for just the "My link" features and I'm sure others would too. Easy money.

The price isn't quite as bad with the employee discount

Not for me, it is free (re-imburst) through my insurance and no it does not affect my premiums

Wonder how long till they support Windows Phone 7

Dude, they asked *both* people using Windows phone 7, and neither one was interested. Sorry, I couldn't resist

Seriously, if you develop an app for Android and Iphone, you have about 80+% of the market covered. Windows 7 is something like 3%.

I'd rather see them spend the time working on making it work with the older vehicles.

I just checked out the OnStar Facebook page and there is a live chat with one of OnStar's "Lead Engineers" at 1:00 eastern time today to discuss this topic. I hope someone on here participates and lets us know what they say about 2010 Silverados and Sierras. I'll be in a meeting, and unable to attend.
