Limited Slip Differential

My 98 GMC k 3500 shows an RPO lists G80 which is the limited slip differential. The first time I got stuck I realized that it did not have limited slip or it was not working. I purchased the truck new from a dealer in 98 but just recently discovered how to check the options that should be on the truck. I always assumed that it just didn't have the limited slip option. Now how do I figure out if the limited slip just doesn't function or there was a mistake make and it really wasn't added to this truck.

The limited slip wasn't working because it doesn't have a limited slip differential. It's an automatic locking differential.

G80 RPO is a locker, not a limited slip.
