Front End Grind While Braking

My 99 Sierra 4X4 with 97K has a deep grinding noise from the front end that only starts after quite a bit of stop and go driving. Brakes replaced in oct. 2010, front diff fluid changed at same time. problem started bout august of 2010 went away over winter but now coming back with a vengeance today. What might be the most obvious thing left to look at? already plan to check front bearings and u joints. Thanks for any input.

front bearings... or the new brakes are bad (stuck caliper can ruin a pad quickly).

grinding usually means a bearing. the u joints will squeak, just replaced both of my u joints becasue they were shot and squeaking

Thanks fella's thats what I was kinda hoping I would hear. Not too drastic...better than a diff. problem!
