ChevyTech77 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 How much did you guys, that have done this, had into the new On* module and steering wheel?
mc7719 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 The Bluetooth VCIMs go for around $200 usually, and you cant get them from the dealer. (Make sure to get a VCIM out of a '10 or '11, and you should be able to retain OnStar functionality) GMPartsdirect is a good place for the steering wheel controls....I *think* around $50 or so?
Troops2990 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 i paid $200 for the vcim and left the steering wheel controls alone since the only difference is a picture of a phone..
mike94silverado Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I was at about $300 in parts when I put the mod on hold... Wish I had gotten it from the factory for $230 but it was the only option I wanted that mine didn't have and I didn't have to wait so someday I'll get it in
Doug_Scott Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I did not have the leather wrapped wheel or radio controls or bluetooth on my truck. To add them in using new parts runs about 180 for the steering wheel, and 200 for the vcim off of ebay. Dealer did the last part of the onstar setup for free, rest of the labour was free since I did it myself. This is the most it should cost you. **forgot to add that onstar gave me 3 months no charge extension on my account, and 430 minutes of phone time (they screwed up entering 30 minutes, added a 0 by mistake, I did not bother to correct them). That cut my cost down to about $105 after subtracting list price for the freebees I got.
ChevyTech77 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks for the info guys but I ponyed up and just ordered the truck with the interior plus package that gives me the bluetooth, steering wheel controls and more. Was looking to go a different way but wanted the radio that came with that package too so I just sucked it up and checked the box for the $995.

Had I of known what I found out about a month after I got mine, I would have done it completely differently. Lets just say my income went up dramatically a month too late. Once it gets to be worth it, I will get the truck I wanted in the first place.
