Whining On Acceleration

I have a 2006 gmc 1500 sle that makes a whining noise on accleration for just an instant and then quits, it does it in park or drive. The only engine work I have had done is the lifters were clicking so GM replaced them under warranty. The noise sounds like it is coming from the back of the motor. I don't want to take it to GM because I think they did a sloppy job on the lifter replacement. HELP!!!!!

more info on the whining noise... like high pitched or more of a low rumble.... alternator maybe?

new alternator didn't fix it. Sound coming from back of motor (high pitch like air , sounds a little like a loose belt .

new alt just a few months ago, sounds like a high pitch noise at the back of motor, like a loose belt, but is not.

Mine wines at the power steering pump when turning at low engine speed.

not power steering noise, don't even have to turn the wheel, you can eve hear it driving @ 75mph when you are going down the road, just hit the gas and for just an instant you hear the whine. Not trans cause it does it standing still!!!!!!
