I just replaced my Bridgestone 285/45/22's with Continental Conti Cross Contact LX. I was running recommended 35 p.s.i on the OEM Bridgestones. The max p.s.i on the sidewall was 44 p.s.i; The Contintental's have a 51 max p.s.i on the sidewall so would running 35 p.s.i. be o.k. even if the max p.s.i is higher than the OEM's? Thanks in advance

Yes, 35 psi is fine. The sidewall of the tire is the MAX pressure. I would go by the pressure on the door tag.

Thanks for the reply.

I would say keep an eye on the tires. Recommended tire pressure for stock tires isn't always the best for lower profile tires. I always tell the dealership to leave my tires alone. Once they didn't listen and some turd lowered my tire pressure to 35psi. when I got home I noticed the rim had took some bites out of my side wall because the pressure was too low (these tires had a little extra on the side walls to help protect the wheels).
