Evap. Vent Solenoid

I have a 2003 suburban Lt 1500 and took it to Autozone to check the engine light code. They said P0443 (evaporative emission system) purge /vent and what it could be. When I put gas into the tank, when removing the gas cap it has preasure in the tank and hiss's the released preasure which makes me think that the solenoid is not working. What do you think?

Where is the solenoid located on my truck ? I read some of the other bloggs but none were for the 2003 Chevy suburban.

Is this an easy fix?

Thanks,

Dave

The Evap Vent/Purge solenoid DTC that you are getting - P0443 - occurs when the PCM does a Evap system check upon first start up. If the solenoid doesn't operate properly within programmed parameters, it will set the CEL and your code.

The Evap Vent Solenoid is located near/on the Evap Canister under the truck. Normally close to the fuel tank.

The Evap Purge Solenoid is located in the engine compartment.

On your Tahoe, it could be a combo type of solenoid, but not likely.

Here is a good link to help you understand.
