2008 4l85e 6 Speed Problem.

On a Friends 2008 Chevrolet 2500HD 4x4 Crewcab 6.0 gas with the new 6 speed transmission it hesitates going into gear from park..The Truck is an o8 so it doesnt have any Traction Control or Stabilitrack.. its always done this since day one...Dealership told him it was normal because its such and I quote..."big transmission"... Say the truck is parked on flat ground in a parking lot..You jump in & start it & when you take it from Park to Reverse on the screen it says its in reverse but it takes nearly 2 seconds according to a stop watch for the transmission to engage into reverse.. After you back up you put it into Drive..Screen says its in drive...You wait another 1.8 seconds for the transmission to engage itself into Drive...It doesnt matter how hot or how cold it is.. It'll always do it.. If its below freezing your talking nearly 3 seconds....Again the Dealership says this is normal for the new gas 2500hds 6 speeeds... I call Bulll....Thats Not Normal...No Way..

Anyone else with these same problems? Anyone got an idea is to why this truck does this?

Well, his truck would have the 6L90e trans and it's not normal. Have him go to another dealership

ditto. it is definitely not normal.

The "all trucks do that" BS from a lazy service writer is often easily thwarted by telling them to please wait while you go next door to the sales department and pull a test drive with a similar truck, and you will be right back to show him they do not all do that.

I sometimes have this on my 07. But only if I try to take it out of park within less than 5 seconds or so of the engine running. If I start up and immediately throw it into drive or reverse it will sit 3ish seconds before engaging (sounds just like what your describing)...but if I let the truck idle for 5-10 seconds before going, then it engages like normal.

I've never looked into this when the truck was under warranty, just figured it was normal...so I usually wait a few before going. I would be curious to know of this is "normal" or not or if your friends issue is similar to mine.

I'd check on alldata for any TSB's on that year. My truck had harsh shifting after sitting overnite. Mine was seals leaking,transmission was taken apart by dealer and fixed. My truck's problem had a TSB announcement on it. They also did something to the programming ,it shifts alot better now. plowking

It doesnt matter, It'll do it no matter what. It can idle for 1 or 10 seconds it'll still hesitate almost 2 seconds before going into gear..

Also he does or "did" plow with the truck..The slow transmission made him completely hate the truck for plowing..The Transmission is a bit rough while shifting also..With with or without a Trailer..

He bought the truck new & took it back 8 times to the dealership..He has then told that Gm said that it was "normal" & then they service manager said how its such a big transmission & it'll take awhile to shift...Thats the biggest joke I've ever heard..

I'd like to figure out what exactly it ailing this Transmission.. Any TSB's that the dealer didnt bother to mention on something like this would be Great!
