2004 ext cab and I was trying to see if I could find a way to stop the roof noise from center of roof being pushed down from wind when trucks pass, I have a cabover camper and everytime it makes noise. Can foam be put in roof etc.I see the newer trucks have formed ribs like crew cabs. Any help or if experienced the same sound. Thanks

I occasionally get the 'oil canning' effect on the roof of my 06, normally at highway speeds, with a significant crosswind. Would be interested to see if there is a fix for this as well.

lizard skin could be an option too.

Not sure what it takes to see the construction of the roof. My prior truck was a '97 reg cab C1500 W/T which had a double-layer sheetmetal roof construction. I injection foamed the hollow between the sheet metal layers which stiffened this up considerably. At the time, a pop-up sunroof was just installed and the work area was easily accessable. There is not much to a W/T's interior roof liner so easy to remove.

Does anyone know if the 2004 gmc truck has two sheets on the roof or just one thickness?

I removed the dome light and noticed a support bar and there was glue or a tar looking goop. The goop was not stuck to the roof, should this be ? should I try to find the correct adhesive and adhere it back? Thanks

I can't comment specifically, but on my 2003 Extra cab the only time I had sounds like that was when I exited the automatic car wash and the blower was forcing air at the roof... never had that issue on the highway.

I had the same problem with my 04 ex cab. I took the headliner down and shot some great stuff foam across the center support and haven't had any noise since.
