1997 Chevy K1500 Z71 4l60e Tranny Wont Shift

I have a 97 chevy k1500 4x4 replaced the tranny it drove around town all day with no problems got it to 50 to 60 mph and lost all gears i put it in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and reverse and nothing act like it is in neutral can someone please help me

I bought it used from a salvage yard but it was seviced and checked out and there was nothing wrong with it. what i dont understand it did not make any noise when it went it just stoped working.

I feel your pain. Just dropped my truck off at the dealer for trans issues. Not the same, but I had done lots of searching on this site.

It kinda sounds like:

21. No movement in any gear: pump failure, or total loss of fluid. R&R, or refill pan and find the leak. If out of fluid, avoid running the engine until the trans is refilled to avoid pump damage. To check for pump failure, check fluid level with the engine off, then start the engine and recheck fluid level. If level does not go down when engine is running, the pump is broken.

I had the same thing happened to me, i have a post going of what happened. The forward/input planetary gearset sheared which caused no movement in any gears.

It could be a lot of things but the first thing I'd check is if you got the torque converter fully seated when the trans was installed. This is very common and will hurt lots of things. Not sure how many electronics are on the '97 version, but maybe just a plug came undone also.

if you have a good scanner, then you can monitor your line pressure is low or not

I use my laptop with scan-tool adapter

one more thing, do you have a tranny cooler?, did you flush (clean) cooler and lines, before you install your rebuild transmission ?

according to your post above, you only reached 50-60 mph, so i think its never engage 4th gear, you may have some wiring / solenoid issues.

you'll need tools like multimeter to test them, + some kind of a good scanner

Thank everyone for there suggestions I will look into it this week end. It could be the wiring I got to change other wiring in it if so that would be great. Thanks again everyone.
