One Year Maintenance/inspection

well, took My 2010 siverado to Heinrich chevy in Lockport,ny ONLY because they sent Me a free yearly inspection coupon. Annual inspections are law in NY. (heinrich was the dealer who would not allow My military discount)

Before they started, the "hostess" asked if I wanted the annual northeast brake inspection and maintenance for 119.00 or so plus ad the ANNUAL fuel system cleaner, bottle of stuff for 26.00 or so and I declined. The inspection requires at least one wheel/brake be inspected, I guess for 119.00 more you get the other 3. The "hostess" made sure to inform Me that this would be documented in the vehicle maintenance history.

During the inspection the technician said My "sliders" were dry on the one wheel pulled and suggested the "northeast inspection and maintenance for 119.00 or so. I declined and this was DOCUMENTED.

The truck passed inspection for NY State and the tech was so thorough, He even opened up the rear door on the passenger side to look in there. WHY?WHAT FOR? Don't know...didn't ask.

Now for all You owners and dealer workers/technicians....what lack of maintenace voids the warranty and how would the second owner know AT TRANSFER, if the vehicle was still under 100k on transfer? Have any of You been through this ? Makes ME THINKING TWICE ABOUT ever BUYING A NEW VEHICLE.

Thanks in advance to all

It's hard for me to take the concept of a Chevrolet "hostess" seriously - in my mind, the phrase "happy ending" keeps popping up (pun intended).

About the inspection, it sounds to me like this particular dealership is using this as an opportunity to push overpriced snake oil and other services on its' unsuspecting customers (nothing is ever free). IHMO, them DOCUMENTING your failure to spend $119 to lubricate your sliders is a clumsy attempt at extortion. If I were you, I'd be researching other mechanics to find somebody that charges a fair price for their services, and doesn't try to trick his customers, under the guise of free coupons, into spending more than necessary. My $0.02.

p.s. Did they happen to notice your muffler bearings had worked loose?
