Changing Heads Or Change Motor

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 99 gmc sierra with 189,000 miles on it. Takes no oil but recentley had head gaskets go out. I was confused for a while until I recently started checking the oil more often and found day by day it would slightly go up. I am concerned that if I begin the project and have broken bolts and everything i will not be able to complete it. Is it worth it to:

A) swap with a different motor

B) Go to the shop

C)Try it myself and if need be bring in a basket case?

Also how hard is it to remove broken bolts? I am aware of 1 that is already broke.

You already had another thread on this. I don't think it's your head gaskets, it's cracked heads. And if it's been running like that for a while, I'd suggest a replacement engine.
