Wont Run After Washed

I washed my truck and sprayed the engine off as I do on all of my vehicles. On the way home my truck started missing and sputtering and eventually stopped running. I assumed it was bc of washing the engine off and figured it would be ok once it dried out. Well two days later with temps in the 90s and it still ain't run. It will star and run for about 5-6 secs and then it shuts off. It will start right back up and do the same thing. Sometimes I can rev the engine and sometimes it acts as if I'm not even pressing the throttle. I cleaned maf sensor, took air intake off and dried thoroughly. The only way I made it home was by removing air intake plumbing from throttle body. I never had a minutes trouble before this. My truck is a 2001 Chevy 2500 HD with 8.1 and 6 speed manual trans.

check your plugs/coils/wires

was your alternator wet when you started it the first time?

You might have fried the stator or coil that is attached to that..

Just shootin in the dark here.

Yes alternator may have been wet. Reducing engine power also showed up on message center when trying to drive truck home. I havent found any blown fuses yet. How do I check for a fried stator or coil? And how do I check the coils and wires? Thanks for your advice.

How about the air box?

My truck has an aftermarket cold air intake made by ARM (I think). No water in it...I took it off and checked. Truck will run a little longer if I take the hose off the throttle body.

UPDATE: Problem solved. It seems that the MAF sensor was toasted. I unplugged the wiring to it and presto the truck runs. Replaced sensor and she's back to normal.
