Consequences of Peeling out.

Has anybody had a problem when they peel out with their car or truck?  I heard of a story where the wheels came off of a car while peeling out.  Has anybody every had a situation like that, having a blowout or something else happen?  I know this is pointless but I just thought I'd ask.   :(

I've seen tires blow out before.  Wheel falling off...possibly loose lugnuts?  The only problems I have seen in the past is getting too much attention from law enforcement officials, getting poor gas mileage, and worn rear tires. :(

As long as the lugs are properly tightened nothing should happen.

That is unless you're running a 36" wide slick in back and launch your car/truck at 5,000 rpm, then you may possibly spin the wheels inside the tires (as you broke the seal).  This is why you see these big tire and wheel combos with screws.

Anyway, for your everyday car/truck, you shouldn't have an issue.

A buddie and I were out looking for deer sheds one day and when we got back to his car (Dodge Conquest) he had a flat. So we put the donut on and headed out. When we got to the blacktop he thought it would be funny to "peel out" with the donut. It was kinda funny until it blew out and we had to walk 3 miles in the rain. I was also late for work.

One year at the local "cruise night" this guy in Rustang kept messing with me in a Z28 I had. When we got to an intersection where everyone was making a left and then looping through a gas station to go back the other way. I decided to cut him off by mashing the gas and pulling a 180 in the intersection. It worked great! Even the cop who was 4 cars back told me he liked it when he let me off with a squeeling tires ticket.

Those are the only consequences I've had    :(

Must have been a ford....I've destroyed a lot of tires for my age and I've yet to see the tires come off I've seen tires spin in the wheels but never falling off

My buddy had just put a blower on his 67 camaro, punched it going about 20 in front of another buddies house, rear tire (and I believe the axle hub, etc) came flying off and the car went sideways taking out a stone mailbox.

His peel out looked "real cool" when he had to get the car towed home and the owner of the mailbox standing there watching.

Good thing he's better at masonry work than automotive up keep.

i haven't really tired. i do lose traction top of first and get sideways on the 1-2 shift in my TR. of course its not the best thing for the car. but doing hard launches would be worse. at least it seems like it would be.

the truck. its a tow vehicle, its not meant to smoke the tires. it just tows/hauls really heavy things.

just dont do stupid stuff with other ppl around. and you'll be ok, kind of..

At the 1999 F-body Gathering (Atlanta) a friend of mine was doing donuts in his SS, ran into a curb and broke his rim! :(

The only unmentioned reason for losing a tire during a burnout would be a c-clip failure causing a rear axle to work its way off the car. (You see this way too often at the dragstrip with daily drivers)

I've heard about Driveshafts snapping during burnouts but that's about it.

If you watch NASCAr, the guys who win do burnouts all the time, one of them the guy (Jack Sprague) did a burnout for so long the back end caught fire.  :(
