Pulling up an old topic, but I have the same problem on my wife's 08 Equinox, anyone have any suggestions on the fix?

Happened on my Sierra awhile back too. I replaced the battery in the fob and it was even worse then quit entirely. I ended up getting a "brand new" dead battery. Bought a new battery (checked the dates on the packaging) and once installed all was well. Replace it again and see what happens. If it stills acts up I'd take it in and have someone take a look at it.

I doubt that's my problem, as both remotes are functioning poorly, but I will try it out and see if that takes care of it. Thanks.

Have you installed any aftermarket equipment that might be creating interference or had your windows tinted with metallic tint film?

Does the problem occur everywhere? If not maybe you have some external device interfering with the fob signal. For example I installed a wireless camera in my garage and it killed the remote and garage door opener working distance.

Yes I've had a window tint recently installed, but the remote was acting up before hand and I have the same tint on my silverado and no problems. And unfortunately it happens everywhere not one particular place.

I would be happy to look into this for you. I hope to get back to your tomorrow with more information. Feel free to check back with me if you have not heard anything by Friday. Thank you.

So I'm still having a problem with this. I've talked to my dealer, they have no idea, changed my batteries, still no luck.I've read that sometimes relearning the Key Fob works, so I'll try that when I have a chance. The only other thing I can think of is the module has gone bad. Anyone ever replaced this or have any other ideas?

The RCDLR, or Remote Control Door Lock Reciever, is the module that is in control of recieving the key fob's transmission and then performing the functions that you request with the fob. 99% of the time, in my experiances, poor key fob range is 1 of 2 things....1. Poor/low fob battery voltage. If you have a voltmeter, you can measure this. It MUST be 3 volts for good key fob performance. I've seen brand new batteries with 2.5 volts have horrible range issues before, no joke. 2. Aftermarket/add-on equipment. Cell phone chargers to window tint they can all cause issues.

If neither of those things are causing the concern, it may be an RCDLR antenna or RCDLR issue. They are located behind the "C" pillar trim on the passenger side of the vehicle, if you privy a look.

I'll check out the voltage from the battery and see what I'm getting. Other than that nothing has been added to (or even near) the vehicle that would have caused it to get interference. Let's hope it's just poor voltage.

Well I checked the voltage and the batteries are putting off 3V, so I guess I'm going to look at replacing the receiver...fortunately it's not too much, but is there anything else I would need to do besides switching out the receiver?

Finally an update and got it fixed. I replaced the RCDLR and antenna, had the dealership sync the computer and the range is back!
