Amp Reserach Power Step Bars

Anybody has those mounted on their truck? I saw them on my coworker's Ford F150 and they are really nice. They are normally hidden under the truck and come out automatically only when you open the door and retract when you close the door. You practically do not see them when they are retracted. The cost is about $ 1,100 per set and they are plug and play type. The power connector for the actuator motors plugs into the vehicle wiring harness.

I have looked into them but the price scares me away at this time. The concept is great but wonder how long they will last? My buddy had something from the factory on his loaded Sub. But that was a button that had to be pushed to push out the running boards... They were really nice.

They are worth the money in quality. But way out of my price range.

If they made a cheaper set I would NOT buy them because automatic steps have to be very strong and compact. Plus have expensive actuators to work properly.

They are rated for 600 lbs, which should accommodate even the most rotund members of our society. They look to be of high quality with black powdered coated finish. Certainly a far cry from the cheap chromed oval steps that GM retails for over $ 600 on new trucks. The same company also offers a manual folding step that mounts under the rear bumper and folds neatly under. That also looks like a well designed and functional accessory.

I have them on my 2011 2500HD. I like them and yes they were pricey. I got them in Dec 2010 when they had a promo and got the step under the back bumper for free.

The steps that GM sells are polished stainless, not chrome. I love mine. They are much larger than a lot of steps I see. Big truck, big steps, not those 3 inch round chrome models.

I would love to have a set of these though, but the price, and the moving parts scare me to death.

I know a couple of guys that have them, and I'm probably going to buy a set for the Avalanche eventually. Mainly because I hate running boards, but when I raise the truck a couple of inches and take mine off, the wife will have a hard time getting in and out. Added bonus is that the power steps drop further down and move further out from the vehicle as normal steps...They're actually useful. My factory running boards are barely wide enough to get a toe on, and they're too high to be of much use anyway.

Just go the cheap rout and get the bestop ones for $78. they have a 3 year warranty. then if you like them after a year or two get the amp ones

I have a set of these on my 2010 GMC Sierra and they work great! All my passengers love them! I have a leveling kit on my truck and these are the perfect height. You will not be disappointed, they are a little pricey but well worth the money. My only complaint is the driver side step starts to loosen slightly and moves a little when you step on it, but all you have to do is take an allen wrench and tighten it, and you can access the bolt without climbing under the truck.

I think they would look great, because they actually kind of hide the frame hanging down under your truck, so with a body lift they would look good.
