Side Exhaust Vs. Split Rear

Recommended Posts

I'm lookign at the db ehxaust by corsa and there is a decent price difference between the single side exit vs. the split rear. Are there any differences in performance between the two or is the only difference appearance? Also, does any know how much the hangers are that they call for or can you use stock hangers? Thanks in advance for your help .

Single exhaust uses all the stock hangers as well as the stock clamp at the cat (assuming you have a 2009 or newer, I think that's when the design switched). Don't let ads fool you, the gain, if any from a cat back will always be minimal. The exhaust is ear candy and little else. That said, I put the dB single exit on last week and love it.

is a link to a video I made. The dB dual kit comes with an extra hanger or two for you to install to support the driver side pipe. It would use existing holes in the frame. The price increase is strictly because there is more piping and stainless tubing is expensive.

The only difference then should be that I think 07 and 08 trucks had a flange at the cat, not the ball/flex joint the newer ones have. The single exit shouldn't require any mods at all.

The only thing that I have noticed between trucks with dual exhaust vs single is the noise. I think dual is louder to other people around you because the sound isn't directed to the right its directed to both....

Are you required to install new hangers if you buy dual outlet?

Its all appearance and opinion. The exhaust systems will be designed to maintain a certain amount of backpreasure, so either design will perform about the same.

I like duals on certain trucks, and single exhaust on others. I even like some dumped just over the rear axel. Its all up to you and the style that you are going for.

i have the dB Series exhaust on mine, single side exit. the reason i went with it over the dual rears is because:

1. the installation was much easier; uses all the stock hangers.

2. i wanted it to still appear somewhat stock looking

3. if i ever get rear-ended, the only thing that would have to be replaced is the bumper and maybe a tail light or the tailgate. with dual rears, the back half of the pipes get bent and you will have to replace it.

the sound and performance gains will be identical between the two different systems.

UNless you get them 45'ed out the back. Ive always been a fan of that look with a set of nice angles echo tips. Ive never been a fan of the 90* angle tucked behind the tire. The straight out look where they come out under the bumper is OK IMO, but I like the angled setup. Some people call it a "cowboy duals" setup, but I think thats just a local term.

I've heard that name too so it can't be too local. And NH doesn't even have cowboys.

Love The look of corsa dual out tip.

Look at mine here http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...=128423&hl=

You sir have made my day. I've been pondering all last 48 hours as to if i wanted straight dual Corsa out back or dual side exit (Yours). I will now be getting the exact same system you have and what a sexy truck. I should get that detail stuff you used.

PS. Hey everyone i am new to the forum love my new 2011 Silverado LT 5.3L Z71 CC in Steal Green Met.

i personally like dual out the rear... its just the classic, truck exhaust, you cant go wrong with it. you see dual out the rear on about 70% of the GMT400's in existance. not a fan of the "cowboy" style.

i dont think dual out the rear looks good on GMT900's. they just seem to new to have it. IMO

I dont have the full corsa catback. I have 3"dynomax vt muffler in stock location and got the tip for $50. I have $200 in mine with install welding fees

Yes and that is why the exit out side looks perfect on it.
