Drove A New Ford Flex This Weekend

This past 4th of July weekend I went with my sisters and nephews to San Diego to see our brother for the 4th. Since we didn't want to take two cars, we rented a Ford Flex for the trip. We requested a Chevy Traverse but they were out. It was a really good road car. Very comfortable and lots of convenient features. With three adults and three kids plus luggage it got 21 MPG average and was plenty roomy. For as boxy as the car is, there really aren't any really bad blind spots. Visibility was excellent. The interior was very quiet and the controls were easy and very intuitive. It had the V-6 and had plenty of power. The only criticisms I have are that it developed a little squeak in the dash on rough roads, the 6 speed trans was very smooth but the kick-down was a little over-sensative. Sometimes it would drop 2 or 3 gears and wind way up when I only needed a little extra power. But I got used to it. Also, for a big, van-like car, it really needs sliders on the sides and not swing-out doors. They got in the way sometimes when we had to deal with the kids in the back. But overall, a good car.

I got to drive a ford flex when my truck got broken into, nice vehicle, I'd buy one if they weren't expensive as hell!

Yeah, like, $45K. A little steep IMHO. :rollin:

I actually really like alot of the new Fords. Ford and GM are doing it right right now in terms of vehicles. The Cruze is sweet and so is the new Explorer
