Which Center Cap Is Correct?

I recently had a center cap fall off my 2000 Sierra 2500. I didn't know if happened, so I lost it. I was looking on Ebay for a replacement and only find caps of a different design than I have. Below is a pic of mine and of the style I keep seeing that is supposed to be for my truck.

My Cap Design

The caps I'm finding:

Ebay Center Caps

So my questions are:

1. Which is correct for my truck?

2. If the caps that are on my truck are correct, where can I purchase these?

3. In any case, will the caps on Ebay fit my truck if I was to buy a set of 4?

Thanks guys,

Jim

the ones on your truck are correct, but the ones on ebay are different from what you have, those go on NNBS trucks. and yes the ebay ones should fit, they are the same bolt pattern.

You have the steel wheels. The aluminum wheels take a different cap. On a Chevy, they are NOT interchangable.

I thought all 2000's had steel wheels. Is that not the case? Because the aluminum style center caps several vendors are listing on Ebay state that they are for a 2000.

Where can I get the correct cap for my wheels? Is the dealer or a junk yard the only options?

1999-2007 classic GMT-800. There were chrome ones for the 16" aluminum and the chrome steel wheeels and painted ones for the painted steel wheels.

2007-2010 used the 1999-2007 center caps for the steel wheels only, but the aluminum wheels, both 16" and 17" had a new cap.

Your truck being a GMT-800 2500 and chrome covered steel wheels would have come with the second cap I posted, in chrome. There should be no issues if they came from an aluminum wheel truck, as I believe they are the same part number.

Are you sure about that? This information contradicts everything else I've read. My truck has the caps in the first picture, but it is a 2000 MY.

Yes. Does your truck look like this?

Notice the caps. Yours would have left the factory with that cap.

The cap you have now would be for one of these:

Yes, my truck looks like the one in the top picture. I didn't buy the truck new, but those were the center caps it came with.

It's hard for me to tell from these pics, but the center caps in these two pirctures look identical to me.

Is the one in the link below the correct one or not? Correct meaning that it matches what's on my truck.

IF you are just matching what you have, then yes, the one you just posted would match. Otherwise, this is the correct cap that your truck would have left the factory with.

Update - I ordered a new center cap with the plastic lug nuts. Now, keep in mind I haven't owned this truck very long and have not had the center caps off before. I go to put it on and I can only get a couple of the nuts on. The rest aren't long enough to engage the threads on the lug nuts. So I started looking at my other wheels. Each of them was missing 2 or 3 plastic nuts. I took one of the old center caps off another wheel and tried to install it on the wheel I was having trouble installing the new one on. I couldn't get it on any better than the new one. It looks like some of the lug nuts are seated further on the stud than others. It's not a big difference, but it's enough to prevent the plastic nuts from engaging.

So my question is, is this common even when you have the correct center caps, or is this a result of mine having the wrong center caps? Anyone have a fix for this? The only thing I can think of short of buying the correct caps is to file down the center cap surface that meets the wheel to get the plastic nut closer to engaging the lug nut.
