I hate to bring this thread back up, but my friends and I were talking today about keeping tailgaters at bay and I remembered this thread. I would love to get one of these signs and put it on my truck to keep people away, but I'm not sure about the legality of this. Is it illegal to just stick one of these on without a reason? I can imagine that if I get in a wreck, the first responder is going to freak and in the end I'll be left with a hefty hazmat response bill on top of a fine.

as for the comment about the brake checking, if someone rear ends you, they are not automatically at fault, especially if it can be proven you brake checked them or caused them to hit you by hard braking for no reason.. The act of brake checking someone falls under Road Rage and Aggressive Driving Tactics in most states, I'd be checking your local laws before putting someone at risk like that (not that I haven't brake checked annoying a-holes myself). Just don't assume they will be at fault.

true in most cases, but there is always that "witness" that shows up to say you and he were road raging with each other.. Or here in the wonderful big brother state, we have Highway Patrol Traffic Cameras on most of the highways, monitoring such things.

 

Believe me, I have done it, but I have no pre-concieved notions that they will automatically be at fault.

The key words thought you saw a deer . and the guy out front would not look like he is road raging just tap on the breaks for a full second and the guy who was behind the front guy trying to make love with his back bumper just penetrated lol . To me if your following to close and the guy infront of you have to slam on his breaks and you cant come to a stop with out hiting him then its your fault for following to close behind him. lets say the guy out front had a heart attack or somthing and slamed on his breaks in pain/fear/scared. Most of the time tho tap on your breaks and the guy tail gating is being agressive but also is paying attention and will slow up really fast and then get a good idea to past . I hate those guys in cities that want to past everyone always pushing and they get like 9 car lengths ahead of you and was being dangours to everyone on the road for like 10 mins or more coming close to making a pile up .

why would you have a truck in a big city ?Just sounds like for a daily commute vehical that parking would be a pain and right hand corners to avoid curbs . and I know in big cityies just becuase you drive a truck people around you are not going to let you into trafic . at least that is how it is in vancouver.

Once you've been the near-victim of insurance fraud, you realize a cheap Chinese dash cam is a lot cheaper than a lawyer and a PI. I use an almost identical camera to the one old-chevy-dude's dash cam thread.

 

And as for driving in cities, it depends on where you are. In every city that I've been to in the U.S. southwest, driving a full-size pickup has never been an issue. I guess things are designed for larger vehicles here.

anyone with a good link to low quality vid for long hours and longer battery life for a driving dash cam ? sounds like a weird idea but its actually a smart idea to save alot of money in the future .

i drive what i drive because it's what i choose to drive. parking isn't an issue because I am disabled, and it's obvious you have never been to L.A. one in every three vehicles here is a large SUV or truck.

 

Driving my Avalanche in L.A. is no different than driving anything else, and as for people not letting me into traffic, never had an issue, with the exception of the occasional moron, and in those cases it wouldn't matter what you drive.
