Heater question

Hello,

 I just bought my 95 Z71 and just got finished tuning her up and ready for winter. One last thing that was on my mind was that when my heater dial is on floor it blows about 50% on upper vents. I thought for fun I would look under dash on drivers side. I saw attached to the black plastic plenum what looks like an electrical control with a rod attached and above that another rod that is disconnected. I bet that is my trouble. My only problem is that I do not know how this all attaches? Maybe someone was having major trouble and had to disconnect it to even get heat..who knows?

 Has anyone or can anyone send me a pic of this rod attached? That would be great! I dont know anyone around here with the same truck to take a look.
