Ac Question?

My Ac unit works great then all of a sudden it will start blowing Hot air out of the drivers side only , my mechanic says it isn't the actuator because it just happens out of the blue and if I shut the truck off and start it back up it is fine right back to cold air .What should I check now.need some imput please

That is certainly your actuator. Mine did the exact same thing, drivers side only. I had the dealership replace it. They said the passenger side is the hard one to replace, drivers side no biggie.

Not real cost effective to get one from a junkyard unless they will let you remove it. The labor to remove it (properly) would probably exceed the cost of the part. Junkyards seldom remove things "properly" and probably wouldn't be real excited about destroying a dashboard (rendering it unsaleable) to get out a small part.

 

Not to mention the fact that you may well end up with a part that has the same problem that you have now......... (OOOOOPS!!!!!! I just mentioned it )

my experience was that it would, on its own, lock itself into defrost mode.

 

Restart engine, all was ok --- for a while.

 

Control Mode Actuator, driver's side on mine. Covered under warranty, not sure what the rack rate would be... (sorry)
