Coby7 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Those have a little circuit in the cluster that lights an LED consisting of a resistor and the LED itself. It is very common for cold solders on the resistor to make this circuit fail. I just reflow the solder. But there's also a switch on the front differential that may fail.
cameron24v Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Thanks Coby, I rebuilt the cluster a year ago, but didn't touch this or the other LEDs. I think I want to probe the wires at the front diff switch. If 4WD works, can I assume the diff switch is good and therefore the dash LED is the problem? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Coby7 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Nope, the diff switch is just to light the LED in the cluster to tell you it is locked, you will need to probe it to see if it switches when differential locks into 4X4.
