fm modulator install

hey guys, i just bought a 6.4 inch lcd screen and fm modulator so i can play dvd in my 01 silverado.  Anyways the fm modulator has a ground and power wire, so i tapped the power wire into the yellow wire in the stock wiring harness.  It was working perfect for the first day, but now whenever i turn it loud or bass hits, the headunit shuts down for a couple seconds.  I think it is taking some current away or something, so what is an alternate source or wire i can get power from?  I don't want to take it straight from the battery cause i don't want it to drain the battery if i accidently leave it on.  Please let me know... Check out the AAI-GM9 and the GM9-AUX. You have two options for wiring it in and a lot better sound quality than FM modulation.
