Transmission Clunking

What my truck does is when I come to a stop and then take my foot off the brake to hit the gas, the truck clunks. I believe it is the transmission or torque converter finally getting the transmission back in first gear.

If I complain about it to the dealer will they do something about it. The truck now has 10,500 miles on it and has done it since it was new. It has the 5.3L and the 4 speed trans.

Driveshaft slip yoke. There is a TSB for this. The dealer will regrease the splines for free.

I'm having the same problem on my 07.

 

I'll be sitting stopped at a stop light and it feels like someone has bumped me from behind. it also does it while going from 1st to second and as well as down shifting from 2nd to 1st.

Just got back from the dealer. They replaced the yoke with part #20877209 under warranty. Truck is less than 2 yrs old and only 12,134 miles. They said this is a revised design part from GM.

 

I didn't notice the clunk driving home but did not have too many stops either.

 

I will keep my eye on this to see if that solves the problem.

Is this the nickel plated slip yoke that was supposed to cure these problems?

 

Curiously enough, I have not had any slip yoke issues with my GMT800. From what I read, it was mostly extended cabs that were affected on GMT800s.

I am not sure. The service writer said that my truck had a two piece drive line and that the yoke would have more play in it than a single piece unit. I have not crawled under the truck to see what actually is there. They said hopefully this would solve the problem.
