Rear End Noise

Here is a 30 second audio of the rear end noise I am hearing, I threw it up on facebook since I couldnt upload it here. I was pushing down on the end of the step bar. The noise seemed to be coming from the drivers side rear (I was on the pass side)

Mine does the same thing and I have it narrowed down to the leaf springs rubbing against each other. I have an add a leaf though and blame that for the noise.

It doesnt sound like the leaf springs though. My old truck made noise around them and I could spray some lubricant on it and it would go away.

This makes sense - mine goes away when it rains and everything gets wet. Where did you spray the lube?

Does it make that same noise if you push from the beside in the same direction as the axle? Like pushing the drivers side of the bed towards the passenger side of the bed?

yes same whether I do it on drivers or pass side

I sprayed the lubricant all over the leaf springs

Could it possibly be from a little play in the wheel bearings? Axle has clips inside the diff that keep them from pulling out and if they wear you CAN hear a noise sort of like that when the wheels shift... My old Jeep does that, sounds exactly the same. My 2005 Silverado did it too.

Wear? I hope not I only have 2,950 miles

Well I got my wife to help me track it down (Much easier with 2 people). Its actually is the leaf spring. Drivers side in the back behind the wheel.

Do they make any rubber covers like they did on the GMT-800's?

This is where mine is making noise too, but on both sides.

Let me know if you find any. I saw a post on here a while back that covered this and actually gave part numbers.

Well I have had the truck into the dealership 2 times the past 2 wks. First time it didnt make noise but my tailgate handle was broke. Well I took it in today and they finally heard it. They told me there is a bulletin to powerwash the leaf spring and re-grease. Just got a call the noise is still present after fixing and they need to keep it overnight. Great now I get some small rental car

Had the truck in yesterday, but forgot to mention that noise and 1 or 2 other concerns. I'll have them check on it next time.

well I left it overnight. They re-greased. Noise went away checked before I left. Drove home 4 miles and guess what noise is back :)
